LUXITY’S GLITZY LAUNCH: Where high society, champagne, and designer bags reign supreme

By Zee

Oh, Ma’am, if you didn’t manage to score an invite to the ultimate event of the week – Luxity’s launch at Sandton City – well, let’s just say you missed everything. Seriously, it was the kind of soirée that makes you wish you had been there so bad. And yes, Zee was definitely in attendance, living her best life, rubbing elbows with the crème de la crème, and witnessing firsthand how Luxity has turned the world of pre-owned fashion into the “It” thing. You know, the kind of movement that makes people rethink their whole “brand new is better” mentality.

The venue

Let’s talk about the venue, Ma’am. Luxity’s flagship store at Sandton City? Well, if it were any more fabulous, it’d need a VIP pass just to exist. Spanning a jaw-dropping 300m², this place wasn’t just a store – it was a whole vibe. Think chic displays and, of course, a hand-picked selection of pre-owned designer bags, watches, footwear, and fine jewellery. But here’s the kicker – Luxity has somehow managed to make luxury resale feel as exclusive as walking into a brand new boutique, without the “new car” smell. It was a shopping experience that made you feel like you’d finally arrived. We’re talking seriously high fashion, Ma’am, no lowbrow nonsense.

The crowd

Now, the crowd? Well, let’s just say you could practically smell the money in the air. It was the who’s who of Sandton’s elite – people who clearly have more zeros in their bank accounts than we can even dream of.  Sure, there were a couple of randoms sprinkled in (you know, those people trying to sneak in a little sparkle), but the real stars of the night were the ones with the serious cash flow. Champagne was flowing faster than gossip, the conversations were dripping with high-society drama, and the energy in the air? Oh, Ma’am, you could practically cut it with a knife.

Event highlight

But let’s get to the real drama- the merchandise, Ma’am. Luxity didn’t just bring out the usual pre-loved stuff, oh no. We’re talking Chanel, Louis Vuitton, and even limited-edition Hermes bags- each more dazzling than the last. These were the kinds of bags that made you feel like you had to have them, or you’d never be able to show your face in public again. I mean, one glance at that selection, and even the most hardcore fashionistas were weak in the knees. While everyone else was scrambling to grab the perfect piece, I was sipping my champagne, playing it cool, knowing I was in the right place at the right time.

Oh, and here’s the twist – Luxity added a men’s department. Yes, you heard me right – men’s fashion is now front and centre, with racks of luxury pieces for the chaps. Finally. I’m sure the guys appreciated it, though I was way too busy eyeing the watches to notice.

Small touches

And let’s not forget the small touches that really made the night unforgettable. The exclusive executive lounge, where guests could sip champagne and pretend to be important (but why pretend when you already are, darling?). I, of course, found myself there more than once – because who wouldn’t want to mingle with Sandton’s finest? And naturally, I became the source of all the latest gossip. After all, when you’re in the same room as South Africa’s luxury elite, everyone is watching.

Now, I do have one tiny complaint. Where were the celebrities, darling? A couple of A-listers would’ve really taken the event to the next level. I mean, I love the local crowd, but I couldn’t help but feel that the star power was a little lacking.

The goody bag

And just when I thought things couldn’t get more fabulous, the goody bags arrived. Oh yes, of course, Ma’am, only the finest. A French perfume and a Q Lounge voucher. With a R1000 voucher in hand, I made sure to pick up a sleek wallet that will surely turn heads wherever I go.

Let’s face it, Luxity has not only cemented its spot as South Africa’s luxury resale queen, but they’ve practically redefined what pre-owned luxury can be. And mark my words – this is just the beginning, Ma’am.  With prices creeping up and VAT making everything feel just a little more extra, Luxity is the perfect solution for those wanting to indulge in high fashion without the new item price tag. It’s luxury, minus the guilt of a brand-new splurge! – @NewsSA_Online
