Hello, my fabulous party people! Zee the Gossip Girl here, fresh from the wildest tennis-themed bash Joburg has ever seen. While the world was glued to Wimbledon, Joburg said, “Hold my beer!” and served up a whole lot more than just aces at James & Ethel Gray Park this Saturday.
First things first – if you thought tennis was all polite clapping and polite people, think again! This soirée was dripping with drama, glam, and enough vibes to power a small city.
The music lineup? Legendary doesn’t even cut it. Lloyiso’s voice? Melted my heart faster than a mid-match sunstroke. Ami Faku was serving soul like it was going out of fashion. And then there was Manana – who came through so strong I swear even the birds stopped tweeting to watch him. But wait, wait – here’s where it gets juicy: Azana was dazzling, then BAM! Big Zulu crashed the party like the king he is, and the crowd went absolutely bananas! Just when you thought the party was over, Shekhinah dropped in and set the whole park on fire. Literally, if the energy were any hotter, the fire department would have been called!
Fashion? Honey, forget Centre Court – this was runway realness! Keneilwe Mothoa’s tennis-inspired collection had me weak in the knees. Crisp whites, bold cuts, and style so sharp it could cut glass. Everyone was flexing looks that screamed, “I woke up like this… and yes, I’m that extra.”

Food? Oh, my darlings, the food was a whole mood. Bao buns that melted like butter, dim sum that was straight-up divine, wings and ribs from The Wing Republic so good I contemplated stealing some, and seafood from The Prawnery that had me saying, “Yes, chef!” The pièce de résistance? The Food I Love You pairing experience with Stella Artois – fancy bites matched with beer so smooth you’d think it was liquid gold.
Now for the real tea: I threw my chips into the Stella Artois Market hoping to score some free swag (because, you know, a girl’s gotta hustle). But guess what? The box was emptier than my ex’s promises. Next time, luck, I’m coming for you!
And the Perfect Serve station? Watching people try that five-step pouring ritual was like watching toddlers try ballet – awkward, hilarious, but totally adorable. Bless their hearts, some of those pours were so bad, I almost cried… from laughter.
By the time the sun dipped, the park was buzzing with energy, fashion, and just the right amount of chaos. If you missed it, honey, you missed the social event of the decade.
Joburg served the ultimate ace and no one saw it coming. Keep your glasses full, your heels high, and your gossip hotter than a summer serve. – @NewsSA_Online
