SANDTON AFTER DARK: Who ruled the Kings of Joburg premiere?

By Zee:

Ma’am, when Netflix throws a party, it doesn’t just launch a series  – it declares fashion war. And Friday night in Sandton?

Word on the top-floor streets (aka Mercedes-Benz HQ in Sandton) is that this wasn’t just a premiere – it was a gangster-glam showdown, complete with fake cash, fur coats faker than influencer beef, and celebs serving thug life couture realness.

But, of course, it wouldn’t be Joburg without some spicy 8scandal, darling. Let’s unpack the who’s who and who should’ve stayed home.

 Connie Arrived Early… Again?!

Yes, Queen Connie, the Madam of Mzansi, arrived on time  – AGAIN. Sis, we love you, but next time? Give the girls a chance to settle in before you steal the show! Connie looked flawless, but honestly, she was giving more First Lady at the ANC gala than Queenpin of the underworld. Still, she held it down like a boss when she said:

“This time, we had to do better than Season 1 and 2 combined.”
Talk about confidence, darling!

Thabang Molaba: Lost, lonely, and phone-locked

Sitting in a VIP corner like a forgotten extra, Thabang Molaba barely looked up from his phone all night. One source whispered, “We thought he was texting his manager to come rescue him!” Book club energy at a gangster party? Not the vibe, babes. Sandile Mahlangu Danced Like His Rent Was Due

Someone call Babes Wodumo – she might need her dancers back! Sandile Mahlangu hit the dancefloor so hard, you’d swear there was a hidden prize for best footwork. Eyes were rolling and cameras were flashing, but the real question is: was that part of the plan or just too many Red Bulls?

Penny Lebyane: Pink Queen with a cigar

Best dressed? No debate. Penny Lebyane was the embodiment of Sandton nightlife = wrapped in pink from head to toe, puffing a fat cigar like she just closed a deal with Pablo Escobar’s cousin. Legendary behaviour, and we’re here for it!

Malik Yoba: Gentleman or secret Wakandan agent?

Fresh from the U.S. and dressed like he was on a diplomatic mission to impress our aunties, Malik Yoba gave nothing but Uncle Buntu energy. Humble, charming, and smooth like Amarula on ice. Rumour has it Netflix wants to keep him here. Our vote? Adopt him NOW!

DJ Zinhle & Mörda’s rooftop kiss heard round the world

Let’s talk about that kiss. In the middle of the DJ booth, live on stage, in front of everyone, Zinhle and Mörda locked lips like no one was watching. But honey, we were watching. Twitter’s still recovering.

In Summary…

Despite chaotic parking, confused actors, and fashion risks gone wild, this was THE event of the winter season. It wasn’t just a party  – t was a movie, and Joburg played its part.

Stay tuned, babes  – “Kings of Joburg” Season 3 drops June 13, and if the series is half as dramatic as the premiere party, we’re in for a wild ride.
