AFRO CHIC SLAY: Nomzamo takes Afrique by storm with Creme of Nature launch

By Zee:

What do you get when global beauty royalty meets heritage‑rich haircare in Lonehill? A soirée so glam, so dramatic – and yes, absolutely drama-filled.
Darling, if you weren’t at the Creme of Nature launch in Sandton last night, I’m afraid you missed a moment. Not a moment – the moment. Zee was there, lashes fluttering and ears wide open, and let me tell you = the curls were popping, the energy was electric, and the guest list? Strictly who’s who of hair, beauty and bold Black excellence.

All the guests understood the assignment. Everywhere you looked, the girls looked absolutely beautiful & on-theme.
Let’s start with the headline……. What do you get when global beauty royalty meets heritage‑rich haircare in Sandton? A soirée so glam, so dramatic—and yes, absolutely drama-filled.

Let’s kick it off with the headliner: Nomzamo Mbatha Nxumalo just caught the biggest bag of the season, landing her first South African ambassadorship with iconic U.S. brand Creme of Nature. Cue the confetti cannon. And baby, when I say perfect match, I mean avocado and toast, Beyoncé and a wind machine. Nomzamo’s been serving natural hair goals since before Instagram had Reels, and now she’s the official queen of curls for the brand.

The Creme of Nature Squad was also out in full force, and every girl brought their A-game. I spotted Zithobe Macheli in a gravity-defying fro that deserved its own spotlight, Katlego Tefu looking editorial as ever, and Lihle Phetla, whose twist-out had more definition than my ex’s excuses. Also on the influencer roster: Masego Morgan, Siyamthanda Ndube, and Khanya Mzobe – basically a textured hair Avengers situation.

Zandi Zinganto, the brand manager (and secret poet – did you hear that speech?), gave a beautiful ode to African women, textured hair, and our ancestral beauty rituals. She name-dropped Moroccan Argan Oil, clay, and other indigenous ingredients with more pride than a mom at a school awards ceremony. Love that for us.

Now, let’s talk venue vibes: earthy elegance was the theme, and honey, the decor did not come to play. Think rich browns, gold accents, terracotta tones and dried florals giving a desert goddess. Everyone – and I mean everyone – looked like they had stepped out of a Pinterest board titled “Afro Chic Slay.”

Pamela Mtanga, our host, floated in with baby’s breath in her hair like a soft life angel. I swear the room sighed when she took the mic. And the bar? Open, flowing, and blessedly sponsored by Uber vouchers – which, let’s be honest, saved many an edge control from melting into chaos.

Tapas were everywhere. Trays just kept appearing like magic – shrimp skewers, mini sliders, things I couldn’t pronounce but still devoured like a respectable heathen. And just when I thought it was over, a goody bag appeared in my hand, filled with product samples I’ll absolutely pretend I got in PR.

Final verdict? Creme of Nature didn’t just launch a campaign – they launched a whole era. One where Black women are centred, celebrated, and slaying on their own terms. The event was definitely worth traveling to Lonehill for.
The campaign is already live at all your favourite stores and pharmacies.
Rooted in Radiance isn’t just a tag line – it’s a movement aiming to uplift textured-hair pride and redefine beauty on African terms.

Until the next glam gathering – keep your curls tight and your tea hot. – @NewsSA_Online
