Siwelele FC and Durban City shared the spoils in a 2–2 draw in their Betway Premiership clash at Dr Rantlai Molemela Stadium, with kick-off at 19:30 on Tuesday evening.
In the 6th minute, Jean Lubumba gave Richards Bay FC an early lead with a goal for the visitors. Just minutes later, Bohlale Ngwato equalised for Siwelele FC, bringing the score level for the home side.
After the second half began, Siwelele FC came out stronger, with Gamphani Lungu scoring to give the home side the lead. However, Richards Bay FC showed resilience, as Jean Lubumba found the net again to equalise for his team.
Coach Lehlohonolo Seema said the team’s vision is to finish in the top eight. “Our team is currently focused on breaking into the top eight. Yes, some may say we dropped two points, but with the remaining games, we will try to push and see how far we can go,” he said. He also applauded his technical team for always doing their best to help the team move forward.
On the other hand, City coach Pitso Dladla said he was impressed with his team’s first-half performance. “In the first half, we started very well, scoring our first goal just minutes after kick-off. However, Siwelele managed to equalise, making it 1–1. In the second half, we started okay, and we were able to create chances after Siwelele took the lead. We eventually equalised. Overall, the boys performed well,” Pitso said.
