Siwelele FC supporters made their feelings known after the team were held to a 1-1 draw by Chippa United at Toyota Stadium on Tuesday night, with fans singing in protest over what they viewed as another disappointing performance.
The supporters remained vocal after the final whistle, using songs from the stands to express their dissatisfaction with the team’s display and recent results.
Siwelele entered the match looking for their first victory of the Betway Premiership season after defeats against Milford FC and AmaZulu FC and a 2-2 draw against TS Galaxy. The pressure was therefore on the home side to deliver a positive result in front of their supporters.
Chippa United took the lead shortly after half-time when Azola Matrose found the back of the net in the 52nd minute. Siwelele eventually responded through Yandisa Mfolozi, who equalised in the 75th minute to rescue a point for the home side.
However, the late equaliser did little to calm the frustration among the supporters. The reaction from the stands highlighted the growing impatience among Siwelele fans, who expected more from the team on home soil. The club now faces increasing pressure to turn its performances into victories as the season progresses.
Siwelele remain near the bottom of the early league standings, with the draw leaving them still searching for their first win of the campaign. For the supporters, Tuesday night’s chants were more than just disappointment at dropping two points. They were a clear message to the team that better performances and results are expected
