HIP HOP WINS: A crown earned in tears and fire

The question of whether hip hop can remain relevant in an era dominated by Afrobeats continues to spark debate. However, history has shown that hip hop’s strength lies in its ability to evolve while preserving its roots. As long as it maintains its classical elements - storytelling, lyricism and sampling - it will continue to resonate across generations.
This point was reinforced at the Metro FM Awards held on April 25 at the Durban International Convention Centre. Veteran rapper Stogie T, born Tumi Molekane, took home the Best Hip Hop award for Four Horsemen, a collaboration with Nasty C, Maggz and A-Reece.
