It is one of the great ironies of South African entertainment: Cassper Nyovest, one of the most vocal critics of the South African Music Awards (SAMAs), will now be the man trusted to host the prestigious ceremony.
For years, the rapper has not been shy about expressing his dissatisfaction with the SAMAs, particularly when he believed deserving artists were overlooked. His appointment as host therefore comes as a surprise to many, given his long and sometimes turbulent relationship with the awards.
