Just when Mzansi was still catching its breath after former Miss South Africa and Miss Universe, Zozi Tunzi, dropped wedding bombshells – another beloved queen has quietly said “yes” in a moment fit for history books.

South Africa’s favourite media personality, Anele Mdoda, is officially off the market – and she didn’t just get married, she stepped into royalty. This past weekend, Anele tied the knot with Bonelela “Buzza” James, a respected lawyer and real-life Prince of the AbaThembu royal family, in a deeply traditional and culturally rich Xhosa wedding ceremony.

Held in the Eastern Cape, the traditional wedding was a vibrant, private affair attended by close family, friends, and royal elders. Guests were adorned in regal Xhosa attire, with umbhaco, beadwork, bringing colour and spirit to the ceremony.  Sources say the wedding was a true tribute to heritage and love.

“Anele was glowing. She was every bit the Xhosa bride – proud, powerful, and stunning,” said one guest who attended the celebration. “You could feel the love in the air, not just between her and Buzza, but in how both families came together.”

The news comes hot on the heels of Zozi Tunzi’s surprise wedding reveal that stunned fans across the country. But where Zozi left jaws on the floor with her secretive wedding.  Noth weddings turned the spotlight toward tradition and family, and fans can’t get enough of Anele’s royal touch.

Social media has been buzzing with warm messages. “First Zozi, now Anele? 2025 is the year of unexpected queens marrying kings!” one user posted on X.

Beyond the headlines, there’s a heartfelt story of family and togetherness. Anele’s son Alakhe has formed a close bond with Buzza, who also shares a child with Katlego Mokonyane, daughter of political heavyweight Nomvula Mokonyane. Sources close to the couple say co-parenting and blended family life are “handled with grace and care,” and the children are thriving in the loving, supportive environment.

“Their home is filled with laughter,” a source shared. “Whether they’re in Dubai or the Eastern Cape, they move like a unit. It’s beautiful.”
Anele continues to dominate the airwaves with her hit show on 947, all while managing successful business ventures. Now, as a Princess of the AbaThembu tribe, she’s stepping into a new era -balancing tradition with influence, motherhood with monarchy.  – @NewsSA_Online
