For the first time in history, the International Dance Organisation (IDO) and the South African Body of Dance (SABOD) will bring the world’s greatest dancers together on African soil, turning the legendary Sun City into a crucible of passion, rhythm, and artistry.
From 30 June to 3 July 2025, the iconic Superbowl — a venue that has hosted superstars and spectacles – will thrum with the beat of more than 360 dancers from 41 dance schools across South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Hungary, and beyond. They are not just dancing. They are waging a war of art, a battle of giants, a celebration of the human spirit in its purest form.
No qualifiers. No boundaries. This is an open championship. Everyone who dares to dream is welcome = from Europe to Asia, from the Americas to Africa. The result? An explosion of talent, technique, and sheer courage that will leave audiences breathless.
Africa has waited long enough. For years, the world’s biggest dance stages stood in the grand halls of Europe. Now, the rhythms of this continent = raw, powerful, and unfiltered – will echo through Sun City, rewriting the story of dance on the world stage.
The panel of judges reads like a roll call of dance royalty. South African legends like Lorcia Cooper Kumalo, Brigitte Reeve Taylor, Tina D’Artnall, and Euhardley Hartzenbrug will join international icons such as Sylwana Patlaszynska of Poland. Together, they will bear witness to the drama of fierce competition, exquisite technique, and unstoppable passion.
And what a programme awaits. From ballet to hip hop, from lyrical to breaking, from the hypnotic rhythms of AfroFusion to the jaw-dropping power of disco dance, every style will find its moment to blaze. The schedule is as ambitious as it is electrifying:
