The stage at Mzamomtsha Primary School lit up with colour, style, and boundless energy this past weekend as learners competed for the coveted titles of Mr and Ms Mzamomtsha 2025.
The annual event, hosted at the school in Khayelitsha, was more than a beauty pageant – it was a bold celebration of youthful confidence, talent, and creativity. Parents, teachers, and community members packed the hall, cheering as contestants took to the runway in dazzling outfits and powerful performances.
This year’s show carried even greater significance thanks to the sponsorship of M L Scents, a proudly South African chemical and cosmetic manufacturing company that continues to extend its footprint beyond business into community development
Speaking at the event, M L Scents Managing Director, Kwakho Madikwa, said the company’s involvement was rooted in its philosophy of confidence and self-belief.
“As a company built on confidence and self-belief, we feel it is our responsibility to pass those same values to the next generation. This Kids’ Modelling Show is more than just about walking on stage – it’s about showing children that they are seen, celebrated, and capable of greatness. When we ignite confidence in a child, we shape leaders of tomorrow,” Madikwa told the audience.

M L Scents, which houses three brands – M L Autocare (car wash supplies), Pure Fragrances (fragrance products), and M L Group (bulk supply for resellers) – is rapidly growing into one of Africa’s most ambitious chemical and cosmetic manufacturers. Its sponsorship of the Mzamomtsha event reflects its commitment to giving back and uplifting the communities where it operates.
For the children, the show was transformative. Nervous faces turned into radiant smiles as contestants grew bolder with every step on stage. Judges noted the exceptional courage, individuality, and pride displayed by learners, calling the 2025 pageant “one of the most memorable to date.”
Principal Mxolisi Matrose thanked M L Scents and the community for rallying behind the learners: “Our children need platforms like these to express themselves, to dream, and to grow. Tonight, every child walked away a winner because they discovered their own voice,” the principal said.

The newly crowned Mr and Ms Mzamomtsha 2025 will go on to represent the school at various community initiatives, standing as symbols of pride, confidence, and leadership among their peers.
M L Scents confirmed that it plans to expand its support for youth events such as these, with the aim of turning the Kids’ Modelling Show into an annual tradition across more schools.
As the music faded and crowns were placed on the young winners’ heads, the message of the night was clear: when children are given the stage, they rise – and when businesses like M L Scents step in to support them, entire communities shine brighter. –@NewsSA_Online
