Zee’s Scene: Brunch, boss babes & divine vibes at Portia M’s power affair!

By Zee:

Darlings! Let me tell you, Saturday was not the day to stay in bed with rollers and rooibos. The only place to be seen (and sip something sparkly) was at the Portia M Women’s Brunch – and of course, your girl Zee was front and centre, gorgeous weave,  heels high and lashes higher!

Held at the freshly minted Divine Sunset in Blue Hills, Midrand (yes, it’s giving “soft life” meets “I manifest abundance”), the event was nothing short of fabulous. Portia Mngomezulu – yes, that skincare mogul – knows how to throw a party where the women are powerful, the food is hot, and the branding is tighter than a snatched waist on awards night!

First off, decor? GORGEOUS. I almost left with a centrepiece. Almost.

The food? Chef’s kiss. I don’t know who catered, but if no one’s wife yet, snatch them now before the bookings roll in. And yes, there were mimosa – what’s brunch without bubbles?

Now, let’s talk about the entertainment. The master of ceremonies was none other than Mmatema Moremi—yes, of Idols SA fame! And sweeties, she did not come to play. Voice? Still angelic. Look? Giving glamour. Stage presence? The girl was floating, okay? Whoever picked her deserves a chocolate.

Speakers? Motivational with a splash of “get your life together.” Dr. Tumi Mashego got us thinking about mental wellness (because even boss babes need brain breaks), Mpumi Madubedube broke down the biz world like a true queen, and Innocent Sadiki had us reaching for tissues and prayer hands. It was a masterclass in glow-up energy.

And let me spill this exclusive tea, honey: Divine Sunset isn’t just a venue, it’s a whole mood. We’re talking a chapel for the “I do” types, a honeymoon suite for post-vow activities (wink wink), plus a spa and restaurant in the works. It’s giving “girl, book it before the influencers do.”

Now, not to name-drop (okay, I’m totally name-dropping), but the guest list? Curated perfection. No riff-raff, no scandal—just beautifully dressed women with businesses, brands, and brows that could cut glass.

Final verdict? A decent event with decent people—and I mean that in the highest, most unproblematic way. Shout out to Portia M for reminding us that women supporting women is always in style.

Catch me at the next event, unless I’ve moved into the honeymoon suite at Divine Sunset. For business reasons, obviously –@NewsSA_Online
