Once again, Mihlali Ndamase is at the centre of a storm not of her own making.

The beauty influencer and YouTube star trended across South African social media platforms this week after controversial gossip blogger Musa Khawula released what he described as part one of an alleged “hit list” detailing men he claims have been romantically linked to Ndamase.

Within hours, the claims sent shockwaves through the online community.

The list, naming 11 men, allegedly spans three countries  – South Africa, Zimbabwe and Nigeria – and includes high-profile businessmen, politicians, celebrities, and the son of a sitting African president. No evidence was presented to support the allegations, yet the names alone were enough to ignite a digital firestorm.

Ndamase, who has largely shielded her private life from public view since her very public relationship with businessman Leeroy Sidambe, has remained silent as speculation and debate rage on. At the time of publication, she had neither confirmed nor denied the claims.

Several men previously linked to the influencer have publicly denied romantic involvement with her, while others have chosen not to respond  – a silence that has only intensified online conjecture.

Social media timelines quickly filled with memes, jokes and sharp criticism, but also with pointed questions about privacy, misogyny and the ethics of online gossip. Many users challenged the framing of the allegations, arguing that a woman’s alleged dating history is being turned into a public spectacle in a way rarely applied to men.

Others emphasised that without proof, the claims remain speculative, warning against trial-by-social-media and the damage it can inflict on reputations.

Ndamase’s rise from YouTube vlogger to one of the country’s most recognisable digital personalities has long placed her under relentless scrutiny. This latest controversy has once again highlighted the harsh realities faced by women in the public eye, where personal lives are dissected and debated as public property.

As the story continues to unfold, one thing is certain: Mihlali Ndamase remains one of South Africa’s most talked-about figures, a name capable of stopping timelines and dividing opinion – whether she speaks or not.

Attempts to obtain a comment from Ndamase were unsuccessful at the time of publication. – @NewsSA_Online
