Bafana Bafana are set to clash with Ghana in an international friendly at Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto on Tuesday. The two sides are expected to go head-to-head in a competitive encounter, with kick-off scheduled for 16h00. In their previous 15 matches, Bafana Bafana have recorded six wins, four draws, and five defeats, a record that provides a confidence boost ahead of the game.
Bafana Bafana captain Rowen Williams said the team will treat the friendly as preparation for the African Cup of Nations (AFCON). “We are using this game as a preparation to see how far we are as a team and to test ourselves. We also have good opponents, and it is important for everyone to get minutes,” he said. Williams also acknowledged teammates who have not been part of the squad for some time. “It is good to see familiar faces back in the team, youngsters like Relebohile Mofokeng and Siyabonga Ngezana. Now we need to gel and give the coach the performance he wants,” he added.
Broos faces preparation challenges
Pressure has been mounting on Bafana Bafana after several players had yet to arrive at the team camp following their involvement in last weekend’s Carling Black Label Cup final. The delay has added to the challenge facing head coach Hugo Broos as he prepares the squad for the match. On the other hand, the Black Galaxies will be aiming to secure a positive result against Bafana Bafana, having intensified their preparations ahead of the encounter.
The Ghanaian side has been engaged in rigorous training sessions as they look to assess squad depth and sharpen their tactical approach.
