- Mosese Spandel is one of those strikers who still lives rent-free in the memories of Bloemfontein Celtic supporters. If you were a defender in his era, you probably still wake up at night wondering where he disappeared to inside the box.
- Spandel was not the type of striker who warned you before scoring. One moment the ball is safe, the next moment it is in the back of the net and the goalkeeper is looking around like he lost his wallet. That was his signature style – quick, silent, and painful for opposition teams.
- At Celtic, he became known as a player who could turn a boring match into a celebration in seconds. If the game was 0–0, fans would just whisper his name like a prayer: “Just give it to Spandel, something will happen.” And most of the time, something did happen — usually a goal.
- He had a special talent for being in the right place at the right time. While defenders were busy arguing with each other, Spandel was already collecting goals like someone picking sweets from a shop shelf. Easy tap-ins? He loved them. Scrappy rebounds? Even better. If the ball bounced near him, it was basically trouble for the opposition.
- Some of his best moments came in big PSL matches where pressure was high, but he played like it was a friendly in the township. Calm, composed, and sometimes making defenders look like they were running in different directions for fun.
- What made him even more special was his connection with the fans. Every goal celebration felt personal — like he was reminding supporters that he was still very much in the building, and defenders were still in danger.
- Mosese Spandel remains one of those Bloemfontein Celtic names that brings a smile, a shake of the head, and a simple truth: if he was in your box, you were already in trouble – @NewsSA_Online
