If love is blind, then Dr. Celiwe Dada must have had the wool pulled over her eyes for years! The young medical doctor has set social media ablaze with jaw-dropping revelations about the financial and emotional turmoil she endured at the hands of her Nigerian barber husband.
In a story that sounds straight out of a soap opera, Dr. Dada revealed how her husband, instead of being a supportive partner, became her greatest burden. The trouble began when he crashed their first car in an unfortunate accident. But what followed was even more shocking. Instead of taking responsibility, he pressured his hardworking wife into buying a new car. And not just any car, a luxury vehicle that drained a staggering R23,000 from her pocket every month excluding petrol. Their previous car had cost her R15,000 per month, yet she still agreed to upgrade him, despite the financial strain.
.To make matters worse, her husband was reportedly abusive and would beat her. “Before buying the car, I asked him if we could consider downgrading. He refused and said he would rather have no car at all than drive anything other than a Mercedes-Benz. He told me people would laugh at him, and I should consider his dignity,” Dr. Dada recounted adding that he was even willing to move to a rural area rather than drive a cheaper vehicle.
One might assume that after making such an extravagant purchase, Dr. Dada would at least get to enjoy the car. But no, while her husband drove around in style, she was left walking to work like a character in a tragic drama. A whole medical doctor, someone who saves lives daily, was left trekking on foot while her husband lived lavishly at her expense.
But the financial burden didn’t stop there. On top of the costly car payments, Dr. Dada was also the one shouldering all household expenses, ensuring bills were paid while her husband enjoyed a carefree lifestyle. It was a real-life Cinderella story, minus the fairy godmother.
Dr. Dada’s shocking exposé has ignited heated debates online, with many women sharing similar experiences of financial and emotional manipulation in relationships. Some have applauded her bravery for speaking out, while others are left wondering how such a brilliant woman found herself trapped in such a situation.
